The service

Bench Patch, then OBD access

This product is the access step only. It does not include an engine calibration, flash tune, or staged power target.

Confirm the controllerThe controller must match the listed coverage: Bosch MG1CS011 TC298. Cedar verifies that match before work begins.
Patch on the benchThe ECU is removed from the vehicle and connected through its harness. AutoTuner's Bench Patch method does not require opening the enclosure.
Use OBD afterwardFor a compatible controller, the completed patch enables supported OBD reading and writing. Tuning remains a separate purchase or service. Compatibility with a separate tuning platform must be confirmed for the actual controller.

Service arrangements

Mail-in or a Dallas appointment

For supported ECUs, you can ship your controller to Cedar from elsewhere in the US. Contact us first to confirm compatibility and removal and shipping arrangements.

TCUs can be housed inside the transmission, making removal and shipping impractical. Tell us about your vehicle before arranging any removal so we can confirm how the service can be carried out.

AutoTuner’s “Mail-In Unlock” label describes a specific processing method. Cedar’s ECU mail-in options also cover other supported unlock methods.

Questions

2020 Volkswagen Passat ECU OBD Unlock Patch FAQ

Does this include a tune?

No. This is the ECU-access service only. A successful Bench Patch enables supported OBD reading and writing for the compatible controller; tuning is a separate product or service.

What has to match before service?

The actual controller must match the AutoTuner-listed controller path for this listing (Bosch MG1CS011 TC298). Vehicle badge and model year alone are not enough, so Cedar confirms the controller before accepting the job.

Confirm the controller

Start with the vehicle details. A clear ECU label or controller photo, when available, lets Cedar confirm the Bench Patch path before intake.
